Budget Cabin Tours

We are affiliated with a number of small hotels, chalets, cabins and permanent tented lodges throughout Southern Africa and these high quality establishments accommodate the groups that choose to participate in our smaller, group-based budget safaris.

Accommodation is based on a twin share basis, some of which feature en-suite bathrooms and some of which share communal ablutions. These lodgings vary from twin bed permanent tents in a lodge, to rooms in a hotel a few metres from the beach. All are comfortable, clean and friendly.

With a professional guide to lead your budget safari and a comfortable bed to sleep in every night, you are assured of a fantastic holiday. You will not find a better quality, value for money safari anywhere else. Click here for Budget Cabin Tours

Participation:

Your tour leader will purchase and prepare all included meals. An essential part of your African safari is participation. It is all part of your adventure and when everyone pitches in to help with the packing up in the morning and clearing after meals, the trip is sure to run smoothly. Team spirit is after all, part of the fun.

Meals:

We create three scrumptious meals per day (unless otherwise specified in the itinerary). This includes everything from lunch on the day of departure until breakfast on the last day of your tour. Good healthy meals make for happy travelers! The tour leaders do all the shopping and meal planning for each group and will try to obtain fresh produce wherever possible. A cooler box will be provided for your drinks.

Local Payments:

A local payment is required on each budget safari and this will be collected by your tour leader before departure on the first day. This covers a portion of the local operational costs, which includes entrance- and park fees. It also ensures that a major portion of your tour price goes directly into the economy of the country you are visiting, benefiting local communities and contributing to the conservation of the area.

Your Safari Vehicle:

African conditions are incredibly diverse, therefore we travel in custom-built vehicles that allow us to be completely self-sufficient while on safari. Eleven years of African tour operating experience has gone into the design of the safari trucks and they have most certainly proven themselves, time and time again. The vehicles are built in compliance with the very latest South African safety regulation; all the while ensuring passenger comfort with ample legroom and large windows for unobstructed photography. All of our vehicles are bought new and serviced by Mercedes and Toyota agents, ensuring trouble-free touring and backup support in practically every town in Southern Africa. Certain National Parks in Botswana are suitable for use of our open four-wheel drive game viewing vehicles which offer unobstructed views for the best possible game viewing experience.

Journey Into Africa offers a small number of budget safaris in South Africa and other regions of Southern Africa that include overland cabin tour facilities.

Budget Camping Tours

Tented safaris in Southern Africa involve accommodation in designated camping sites in national parks, private reserves, private campsites and towns. Facilities are generally good with hot showers, restaurants and washing facilities readily available. Camps further north can be quite basic and sometimes have limited facilities with simple reed enclosures for showers, but most generally do have flush toilets.

On some nights, our African tent safari is conducted in the wild with no facilities. Wild camping is a true wilderness experience and allows us to keep our impact on the environment to a minimum by taking out everything we take in. In keeping with this philosophy, toilets will be of the "dig and bury" variety.

On tent safaris we supply all camping equipment, with the exception of a sleeping bag and pillow. The tents we use are very comfortable (2.2 x 2.2 x 1.8 metres), with built-in insect nets. Setup and take-down is a mere five minutes and comfy five centimetre thick mattresses are supplied. All camp chairs have backrests while cooking and eating utensils will also be provided. Food is kept in sealed containers and cooler boxes/freezers, ensuring fresh and hygienic food preparation.

On most budget African safaris there will be a number of chalet, cabin or hotel accommodation nights. The facilities will be modest to basic and you will generally have access to a twin or quad share room. In some instances you will be required to share bathrooms. Click here for Budget Camping Tours
