Maestro Sforzini will be dusting off his bassoon to play a recital this Saturday night with clarinetist Brian Moorhead. Moorhead (41 years Principal Clarinet with the Florida Orchestra) commissioned Sforzini to compose a Double Concerto for Clarinet and Bassoon. Additional commissioners include Belinda Dumont and Gayle Bertelstein.
Moorhead and Sforzini played 15 years side by side in the Florida Orchestra when Sforzini was Principal Bassoonist from 1992 – 2007. The recital is this Saturday night, February 10 at 7:30pm at the Barness Recital Hall at the USF campus in Tampa.

The program will be a historical journey in musical composition for the two instruments that will culminate with a performance of Sforzini’s Double Concerto with David Stech rendering the orchestra accompaniment on the piano.

The delightful chamber program this Saturday is just the beginning! Sforzini and Moorhead will perform the World Premiere of Sforzini’s Double Concerto with the 75-piece Tampa Bay Symphony later this month. The Tampa Bay Symphony is a collaborative partner with the St. Petersburg Opera, and our Maestro is also the Music Director of this fine ensemble.
